Conventional hoods that contain two ports have the disadvantage of
One disadvantage is that sampling the CO 2 Oxygen dilution that is continuously delivered to the subject
Dilute CO by oxygen (or by any other gas for that matter) 2 Reduced CO 2 The concentration level (partial pressure) of the sample, resulting in CO 2 Measurements below capnographic standards and resulting in CO 2 Concentration measurements are inaccurate or incorrect and may lead attending medical personnel to draw erroneous conclusions about the subject's true breathing
As a result, CO 2 Sampling ports are often located in the mask, adjacent to the mouth / nasal opening, making it uncomfortable for the patient to wear the mask
[0008] Although for CO 2 Sampling and delivering oxygen are beneficial, but there is a need to use both functions at the same time (e.g., in CO 2 Dilution) related disadvantages

Embodiment Construction

[0017] The following description provides various details of exemplary embodiments. However, this description is not intended to limit the scope of the claims, but rather to explain various principles of the disclosure and the manner of practicing it. Additionally, in an effort to provide a concise description of these Examples, all features of an actual implementation may not be described in the specification. It should be appreciated that in the development of any such actual implementation, as in any engineering or design initiative, a number of implementation-specific decisions must be made to achieve the developer's specific goals, such as compliance with system-related and business-related constraints , the target may vary by implementation. Furthermore, it should be appreciated that this development effort might be complex and time consuming, but would nonetheless be a routine undertaking of design, production, and fabrication for those of ordinary skill having the ben...

Abstract

A CO2 monitoring system (100) provides oxygen (O2) (120, 230) to a subject's mask (140) with known characteristics. The CO2 monitoring system (100) receives, from the mask (140), gas samples (146) including exhaled CO2 (144) diluted by O2 (120, 230). The CO2 monitoring system (100) uses an adaptive noise canceller (166, 400) to cancel the diluting O2 (120, 230) by using the known characteristics of the O2 (120, 230) provided to the mask (140), the result of which process is restoration of the original concentration level of the CO2 (144) as exhaled by the subject into the mask (140).
