Abstract

The present invention discloses an aftertreatment system and an aftertreatment method for a lean burn engine. The aftertreatment system is equipped with an ammonia production catalyst module, a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst, and a CO purification catalyst (CUC) in sequence on the exhaust pipe through which the exhaust gas flows and which is connected to lean burn engine. An exhaust gas flow converter is disposed between the ammonia producing catalyst module and the SCR catalyst. The exhaust gas flow converter varies the flow rate of exhaust gas discharged from the ammonia-generating catalyst module according to the temperature of the SCR catalyst.
