The battery module thermal runaway test triggering and monitoring system comprises at leastone heater, at least one temperature sensor and a data collector, wherein each heater is the same as one battery monomer in volume, shape and size, and at least one target battery monomer is replacedby the heater; the temperature sensor is arranged in the battery module and between any two adjacent battery monomers; the data collector is electrically connected with the temperature sensor and usedfor obtaining temperature data detected by the temperature sensor. According to the battery thermal runaway triggering system, thermal runaway of the battery system can be triggered through heating,a real battery module can be selected as an experimental object, and a thermal spreading test of a battery monomer is carried out; and the design and operation of the battery thermal management systemcan be guided according to the test result of the thermal spreading of the battery monomer, and the original structure of the battery module can be reserved, so the test result is credible.
