The invention discloses a yaw shutdown control method and system for a wind turbine generator. The method comprises the steps of issuing an instruction for reducing the rotating speed to a yaw driver, and controlling a yaw motor to reduce the rotating speed to a preset rotating speed R1; increasing the yaw braking torque; and issuing a de-enabling instruction to the yaw driver, and controlling the yaw motor to brake. The system comprises a main control module used for issuing the instruction for reducing the rotating speed to the yaw driver and controlling the yaw motor to reduce the rotating speed to the preset rotating speed R1; a hydraulic yaw braking module used for increasing the yaw braking torque; and a de-enabling module used for issuing the de-enabling instruction to the yaw driver and controlling the yaw motor to brake.
