Abstract

Embodiments provide for intracranial delivery of a pharmaceutical solution to the brain. A system includes a borehole occluder for insertion in a cranial borehole, a catheter, a connection member, a connector tube, and a pump. The catheter advances through an opening in the occluder to a tissue site in the brain. The proximal portion of the catheter is secured to the outer channel in the occluder to minimize movement of the catheter in the brain. The catheter, the connection member, the connector tube, and the pump are fluidly coupled together to form a flow path between the pump and the distal end of the catheter for infusion of a pharmaceutical solution to a tissue site in the brain.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims priority and benefit to U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 881,875, filed August 1, 2019, and entitled Devices, Systems and Methods for Intracranial Delivery of Therapeutic Agents to Treat Brain Tumors, the U.S. Provisional Patent Application The entire contents are incorporated herein by reference for all purposes. technical field [0003] Embodiments relate to devices, systems and methods for treating adverse neurological conditions, such as devices, systems and methods for treating brain tumors or other cranial growths. Background technique [0004] Brain cancer and other nervous system cancers are the leading causes of death in both men and women. For example, glioblastoma multiforme is the most commonly diagnosed primary brain tumor in adults, with an incidence of 2-3 cases per 100,000 per year. This is a particularly deadly and rapidly acting form of cancer, as the median untreat...
