Embodiment

[0048] Will be about 25g / m 2 The non-woven glass fiber paper was impregnated with about 2 kg per square meter of an aqueous sodium silicate solution (43% on a dry matter basis).

[0049] Arrange the wet nonwoven on 505.3P mica layer and a folded mica core is placed on the wet nonwoven.

[0050] Another layer of mica with the same sodium silicate impregnated nonwoven was used to close the interlayer.

[0051] The interlayer was then placed in an oven with a height limited to the value of the thickness of the core + 2x the thickness of the skin. In an oven, it was dried at 100°C for 1-1.5h and then also treated at 280°C for 1-1.5h for expansion.

Abstract

The invention relates to a composite sandwich panel (1) comprising a first layer (2) comprising mica paper, a folded core or honeycomb structure (3) comprising mica paper and a second layer (5) comprising mica paper; characterised in that the first layer (2) and the second layer (5) comprising mica paper are glued to the folded core by means of a mineral binder comprising one or more alkali metal silicates.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a mica-based sandwich structure comprising two outer sheets separated by a folded core mica structure. The core mica structure is a honeycomb or other folded structure. Background technique [0002] Mica paper, or sometimes called recombinant mica, is well known and can be prepared in any of a number of ways. According to US 2,549,880, mica is dewatered at high temperature, placed in a liquid medium, and broken up to form a slurry, which is then laid by papermaking techniques. According to US 2,405,576, mica suitable for the production of paper can be obtained by breaking the mica into fine flakes under the action of a liquid jet. In yet another process described in US 3,110,299, mica is layered for papermaking purposes by exfoliating a continuous layer of material from the mica. [0003] Mica paper is rather fragile and in practice it is impregnated with a suitable resin or other adhesive and laid down to a laminate...
