Embodiment 1

[0113] A composition for lining pipes is prepared using a base component and an activator component having the following ingredients:

[0114]

[0115]

[0116]

[0117]

[0118] The base component comprises a liquid polymer resin containing a hydroxyl functional prepolymer. In other words, the liquid polymer resin contains a prepolymer having -OH functional groups. In some embodiments, the liquid polymer resin comprises a polyol. In some embodiments, the liquid polymer resin has a castor oil base.

[0119] In some embodiments, the base component comprises a blend of two or more different hydroxy-functional prepolymer-containing liquid polymer resins. In some embodiments, the different liquid polymer resins are present in equal weight proportions of the base components. In other embodiments, the different liquid polymer resins are present in different weight ratios of the base components. Different liquid polymer resins result in different properties of the res...

Embodiment 2

[0148] A composition for lining pipes is prepared using a base component and an activator having the following ingredients:

[0149]

[0150]

[0151] To prepare the base components of Example 2, Isopol 160-3500 and castor oil were introduced into a clean container and mixed using a high speed disperser. Sillitin Z 86 extra pure, B15, titanium dioxide, A3 and TS-720 was slowly added to the mixture and mixed at relatively high speed until a dispersion of 4 to 5 Hegmans was obtained. A speed of 500rpm to 5000rpm is used for this stage.

[0152] At a slow mixing speed (eg about 500 rpm), the Isopol 230-300 and 100 was added to the mixture. use 33-LV adjusts cure time.

[0153] With stirring at low speed (eg 500 rpm to 600 rpm), Sigrafil C M150-3.0 was added to the mixture and stirred until completely mixed. The mixture was then passed through a 3mm screen to remove any contaminants.

Embodiment 3

[0155] A composition for lining pipes is prepared using a base component and an activator having the following ingredients:

[0156]

[0157]

[0158] To prepare the base component of Example 3, the following method can be used. The Isopol 160-3500, Isopol 230-3000 and castor oil were introduced into a clean container under an appropriately sized high speed disperser (HSD). It has been found that adding all of the liquid resin containing the hydroxyl functional prepolymer at the beginning of the process is beneficial to the manufacturing process. It has also been found that the resins are easily mixed together, so high speed dispersion is not required at this stage.

[0159] Turn on the mixer and slowly add Sillitin Z 86 extra pure, B15, titanium dioxide and A3. The mixer was then run at high speed until a dispersion of 4 to 5 Hegmans was obtained.

[0160] Add Sigrafil C M150-3.0 slowly, ensuring that dust is kept to a minimum, eg by pouring into a moving vortex ...

Abstract

Methods and devices for applying a composition to a tube are provided. A composition for application to a substrate is provided. The composition comprises a base component and an activator component. The base component includes a hydroxyl functional prepolymer, and the activator includes an isocyanate prepolymer. The composition also includes an amount of carbon fibers. The hydroxyl functional prepolymer is configured to polymerize with the isocyanate prepolymer to form a polymer comprising carbon fibers.

Description

[0001] This application is a divisional application of an application with an application date of October 2, 2017, an application number of 201780060789.1, and the name of the invention as "composition". technical field [0002] The present disclosure relates to compositions, substrates to which the compositions are applied, methods of applying the compositions to a substrate, and apparatus for applying the compositions to a substrate. Background technique [0003] Water is typically supplied from water treatment centers to homes and commercial properties via a network of water pipes. Similarly, wastewater is typically carried from a property to a water treatment center via a network of wastewater pipes. This requires a large network of pipes, many of which are usually underground. Such pipes typically have a limited lifespan, and when the pipes are no longer available, they must be repaired or replaced to maintain the piping network. [0004] Because many pipes are in the...
