Problems solved by technology

While these substances are effective in suspending oil droplets, they are expensive ingredients and, as in the case of cationic polymers, at higher levels they create problems in processing and lead to an undesirable sticky feel during use of the product

Embodiment 1

[0079] The following examples show that dispersed cationic guar particles alone can act as effective stabilizers for oil droplets in surfactant solutions. The combination of dispersed cationic guar microparticles and small droplets of skin benefit agent makes it possible to prepare a stable moisturizing liquid without any other structurant. Three samples having compositions as shown in the table below were prepared. Embodiment 1 is an embodiment of the present invention. Examples A and B were prepared for the purpose of comparison. Add all of the surfactants, NaOH solution and deionized water to a conventional mixer and mix at 70°C to 75°C for about 30 minutes to form a homogeneous solution. The silicone emulsion and sunflower oil are then added to the surfactant solution and mixed at 55°C to 60°C for about 10 to 20 minutes. Jaguar C13S was mixed with glycerin to form a guar powder dispersion. The dispersion was then added to the mixer and mixed for 20 to 30 minutes. The ...

Stablize

[0084] All three above-mentioned samples containing dispersed guar particles were observed in a light microscope. The guar particles dispersed in Examples 3 and 4 dissolved rapidly when the liquid was diluted with water. In Comparative Example C, the vast majority of the guar particles remained intact after diluting the liquid with water. Deposition of the above three samples on adult pig skin purchased from Buckshire was measured using the following method.

Abstract

A stable aqueous liquid comprising a surfactant, a dispersed cationic polymer particle and a small particle benefit agent. The dispersed polymer interacts with the benefit agent, without need of an additional structurant to stabilize particles in solution. Further, upon dilution, enhanced cationic deposition is achieved.

Description

field of invention [0001] The present invention relates to stable aqueous liquid cleansing compositions comprising small droplets of a skin benefit agent and dispersed cationic polymer particles. In particular, the present invention relates to aqueous liquid compositions in which small particles of benefit agents are stably suspended and readily settle upon dilution with water. Stability is the interaction of the small particle benefit agent and dispersed cationic polymer in the composition to form a microscopically stable benefit agent / polymer network. When the liquid composition is diluted in water, the dispersed cationic polymer rapidly dissolves and interacts with the small particles of the benefit agent to obtain a high deposition of the skin benefit agent. Background of the invention [0002] In addition to cleansing, another highly desirable feature of personal cleanser / shower gel type compositions is that the compositions deliver perceivable skin benefits to the use...
