Problems solved by technology

Therefore, it is difficult to manufacture a general HMD wearable display system, that is, it requires a lot of effort and time
Additional difficulties in aligning lenses and components may occur even if the lenses and components are designed with precision
Moreover, a dedicated eyepiece lens must be additionally designed to eliminate the chromatic aberration of the color signal
Therefore, typical HMD wearable display systems are too expensive to manufacture
In addition, the traditional optical system is bulky and heavy due to the use of multiple optical devices, so it is inconvenient for the user to wear the HMD

Embodiment Construction

[0040] Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.

[0041] Figure 4A and 4B Respectively, a front view and a top view of a wearable display system according to the present invention. exist Figure 4A and 4BAmong them, the wearable display system has a simple structure in which a lens 400 and a display panel 410 are combined. The wearable display system according to the present invention has a thin and light structure because it uses a light barrier and a magnifying lens compared to conventional techniques. Therefore, the wearable display system according to the present invention can be easily and conveniently worn like glasses, unlike the existing bulky and heavy helmet-type HMDs. In addition the present invention provides a wearable display system with a modular structure, wherein the modules can be attached and detached from conventional glasses. Abstract

A wearable display system having a display panel for outputting a signal processed a predetermined way is provided. The system includes: at least one waveguide for guiding the propagation of at least one signal output from at least one display panel; a plurality of gratings for diffracting the at least one signal propagating through the at least one waveguide; and at least one magnifying lens movable along a lengh of the waveguide, for magnifying the at least one signal diffracted by the grating. According to the system, a more light weight and compact wearable display system can be realized by minimizing the number of optical components, and the complexity and cost in manufacturing a display system can be reduced. In addition, a display system can be produced on a large scale by incorporating a waveguide, gratings and an eyepiece into one single body, and further, chromatic aberration can be removed by conjugate gratings.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to personal display systems, in particular wearable display systems capable of transmitting display signals through eyeglass or goggle type optics for display in the vicinity of the user's eyes. Background technique [0002] Traditional optical display systems used in military, medical, or personal entertainment—often referred to as head-mounted displays (HMDs)—have been designed to allow users to view video through glasses, goggles, or helmet-type wearables Signal. These personal display systems allow users to receive video information while moving from place to place. figure 1 An example of the appearance of the HMD is shown. see figure 1 , the HMD is composed of general glasses 100 and an image driving unit 110 attached to the center of the glasses 100 . The drive unit 110 is bulky, heavy and has an ugly appearance. The reason for the large volume and high weight of the image driving unit 110 is the plurality of li...
