Embodiment

[0095] The catalyst particles contain alumina porous carrier material or alumina inorganic carrier. Deposited on and / or in the alumina porous carrier material is NiO and / or MoO 3 The oxidative hydroprocessing catalyst component. The Mo content on and / or within the alumina porous support material is approximately 3 wt% based on the combined weight of the alumina porous support material and the oxidative hydroprocessing catalyst component. The content of Ni present on and / or in the alumina porous support material is approximately 1 wt% based on the combined weight of the alumina porous support material and the oxidative hydroprocessing catalyst component. The surface area of the catalyst particles is approximately 120 square meters per gram.

[0096] Most of the catalytic particles are generally spherical, with an average diameter of about 6 Taylor standard sieves to about 8 Qinle standard sieves, and an aspect ratio of about 1. The average crushing strength of the catalytic pelle...

Abstract

Catalyst particles are presulfided in a treatment zone separate from a hydroconversion reaction zone. The presulfided catalyst is then added to a substantially packed bed of catalyst in the hydroconversion reaction zone at reaction pressure, so that the reactor is not shut down to replace catalyst. The presulfiding process is particularly beneficial for use in moving bed reactors for heavy oil conversion.

Description

Background of the invention [0001] The present invention relates to a method for extending the catalytic life of a catalyst used in the hydroprocessing of a hydrocarbon feed stream. More specifically, the present invention provides a presulfurized hydroprocessing catalyst to improve applicability, reduce catalyst poisoning rate, and extend the catalytic life of the catalyst bed in the hydroconversion reaction zone during hydroprocessing. More specifically, the present invention further provides a method for externally presulfiding the hydroprocessing catalyst before transferring the presulfided hydroprocessing catalyst into the hydroprocessing reaction system. The method aims to improve the applicability and reduce the rate of catalyst poisoning, and to extend the catalytic life of the usual "packed catalyst bed" (which preferably replaces the catalyst in operation) used in the hydroprocessing reactor system. The method of the present invention can also be advantageously implement...
