Problems solved by technology

One problem with three-layer fabrics is that the two layers slide relative to each other over time, causing the fabric to break
In addition, binder yarns can disrupt the structure of the forming layer, causing paper marks

Embodiment Construction

[0025] The present invention is a three-layer forming fabric interlaced with two or several layers of weft yarns with at least two warp yarn systems. The yarns of the first warp system interweave the yarns of the first weft system. The yarns of the second warp system then interweave the yarns of the second weft system. Optionally, a third layer of weft yarns may be inserted between the first and second CD weft yarns in a stacked or non-stacked weave. The composite three-layer fabric is joined with triple binder yarns. The function of the binder yarns is to join the layers of the fabric together by weaving over and under the first and second warp yarn systems and between two cross direction (CD) weft yarn systems. An advantage of using a three layer fabric is the ability to create a plain weave on the forming surface (thereby minimizing marking and providing a high level of web support). Therefore, triple binder yarns are woven sequentially to form a plain weave surface stru...

Abstract

A papermaker's fabric for use in the forming section of a paper machine, the fabric having a top and a bottom layer of warp yarns in the machine direction (MD) and weft yarns in the CD direction, and a triple-bonded CD (CD) layer interwoven with the top and bottom layers of the fabric yarn. Triple binder yarns work together to weave a plain weave pattern on the top layer, thereby reducing paper marks and providing a high level of web support.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to papermaking technology. More particularly, the present invention relates to a forming fabric for use in the forming section of a paper machine. Background technique [0002] During papermaking, a web of cellulose fibers is formed in the forming section of a paper machine by depositing a fiber slurry, which is an aqueous dispersion of cellulose fibers, onto a moving forming fabric. Most of the water in the slurry is drained through the forming fabric, while the cellulosic web remains on the surface of the forming fabric. [0003] From the forming section, the newly formed cellulose web enters the press section, which consists of a series of press nips. A web of cellulosic fibers is supported by a press fabric, or typically between two such press fabrics, and passed through the press nip. In the press nip, the cellulosic web is subjected to compressive forces that force water out of the web and cause the cellulosic fib...
