Abstract

This invention relates to a method for preparing copper ingots by gravity casting. The copper ingots comprise basic raw materials and additives. The basic raw materials comprise Cu 59-61 wt.%, Pb 1.1-1.7 wt.%, Al 0.5-0.7 wt.% and Zn. The additives comprise refining agent and thinning agent. The method comprises: (1) preparing the raw materials according to the formula; (2) heating and melting theraw materials; (3) adding the refining agent, stirring uniformly and removing impurities; (4) adding the thinning agent, and stirring uniformly; (5) sampling, examining the fluidity of the copper liquid as well as the proportions of allcomponents, and adding the raw materials or the refining agent if not qualified; (6) casting in copper ingots, and cooling naturally; (7) examining the properties ofthe copper ingots, and grading. The gravity casting method has such advanatages as good fluidity of metal liquid, few defects of cast products, high qualification rate, good polishing property, reduc ed labor and improved productivity.
