Abstract

A plasma display apparatus and an image processing method thereof are provided to improve image quality of the plasma display apparatus by scattering a false contour noise in moving images. A plasma display apparatus includes an inverse gamma compensation unit, a first halftone unit, and a second halftone unit(400). The inverse gamma compensation unit compensates for an image signal from the outside based on an inverse gamma compensating scheme. The first halftone unit performs a halftone process on a minority component of the inverse gamma compensated image signal. The second halftone unit adds / subtracts one of integer gray scale values, which are in a predetermined range, to / from a gray scale value, which is allocated in respective pixels of the halftone processed image signal, by using a random integer mask.
