Capless automotive fueling system

A capless automotive fueling system having a funnel with a port open to receive a fuel filling nozzle. A spring loaded valve is movable between an open position in which the port is open and a closed position in which the fuel valve overlies and sealingly covers the port. A shield is movable between a first position in which the shield overlies and covers the valve, and a second position in which the shield is laterally disposed to one side of the valve to permit insertion of the fuel filling nozzle. A motor is drivingly connected to the shield and, on activation, moves the shield from its first and to its second position. Alternatively, two latches engage the valve to retain the valve in a closed position. Upon insertion of a properly sized fuel nozzle, the nozzle engages the latches and pivots them to an open position.

Resealable medical transfer set

A transfer set for transferring fluid, including drugs, vaccines, medicaments, solutions and the like, between a first container, such as a conventional vial, and a second container, such as a conventional syringe having a unique multipurpose resealable member. The transfer set assembly includes an elastomeric tubular fluid transfer and resealable valve member preferably including an open end mounted on the pierceable closure or stopper of a vial and a generally closed distal end having a longitudinal slit and a piercing member is telescopically received within the fluid transfer valve member having a piercing end opposite the pierceable closure. The fluid transfer valve member is preferably formed of silicone and is surrounded by a generally tubular luer connector member having an open end mounted on the pierceable closure and a distal end having male luer threads. This assembly is enclosed within a cup-shaped closure and the assembly is retained to the first container or vial by a collar preferably secured to the vial by crimping. Upon removal of the cup-shaped closure, fluid communication between the vial and a second container, such as a syringe, is achieved by threading the luer connector of the syringe on the luer threads of the tubular luer connector member, which drives the tip through the slit of the elastomeric fluid transfer valve member against the distal end of the piercing member, driving the piercing end through the pierceable closure. In the preferred embodiment, the piercing member includes a generally longitudinal channel which establishes communication between the vial and the syringe through the tubular fluid transfer valve member.

A product packaging comprises a cap on a transparent bottle to seal in a protected product. The cap includes an RFID chip and antenna that can report a serial number and product identification code to a nearby scanner. Reports from several such scanners in the distribution chain from manufacturer to retailers are logged and used to validate legitimate products by their movements. The caps are designed such that when opened the RFID antenna will break away from its associated RFID chip. The cap is molded of cross-linked polymers with a memory that makes it impossible to reseat it properly to the bottle once removed. A hologram target is placed backwards under a label on the side of the bottle so a laser beam can be directed through the backside of the bottle, through the contents, and to the hologram. The reflected laser light will have a signature that is very sensitive to the exact chemistry of the contents. Adulterations and fake products substituted for the genuine articles inside the bottle are detectable using non-invasive hologram reflected laser light and analysis.

Tire sealant dispensing apparatus

A tire-sealing apparatus for injecting a sealing composition into a vehicle tire either as a prophylactic or for sealing an existing leak is in the form of a pressurizeable container for a flowable sealant compound. An inlet is provided for introducing compressed gas into the container to pressurize its contents. An outlet line is also provided to deliver the sealant into a tire, the pressurized gas acting on contents of the container and providing the motive force for the delivery. A dip tube extends into the compound and is coupled to a one-way valve to provide a controlled flow of the compound from the container into the tire while preventing back pressure of the tire from either delivering air or compound back into the container. A passageway between the outlet tube and an interior of the container is provided to allow a flow of compressed gas within the container into the outlet tube along with the sealant.

Retainer for blank of split cap

A device for retaining the blank or sealing lid of a split cap used to cap a fluid container having an invertible spout. The device includes various means for ensuring that the blank will be retained in close proximity to the user so that it will not be lost. This is achieved by modifying the blank either to enable affixing it directly to the container, or to configure it to be easily attached to a site close to the container. The retaining device includes a threaded section affixed to the blank for coupling the blank to the standard vent port of a container. Optionally, the retaining device includes a tethering hole located in the gripping flange of the blank to enable tethering of the blank to the container or to a shop hanger. Alternative designs of the retaining device include placing attachment devices on the underside of the blank and on the container, such as hook-and-loop couplings, male / female nipple sets, and magnetized components. The container may also be modified to include a pocket for stowing of the blank.

Tamper-evident device

There is disclosed a tamper-evident device for a closure assembly adapted to be applied to a mouth of a container, for example, a neck of a bottle. There has been identified a need for an improved tamper-evident device which does not have any parts which are removed upon initial opening and which are liable to be reattached by counterfeits or the like. Accordingly the present invention provides a tamper-evident device comprising a sleeve member which comprises a first portion associated with a second portion by a frangible portion therebetween, and wherein said first portion is adapted to be applied to a mouth and neck portion of a container, and said second portion is associated with a container closure member, and wherein an initial container opening operation causes said frangible portion to fracture or break such that when the container is reclosed said first and second portions are located in a spaced apart relationship to one another.

Alert medication safety seal system and method

The present invention provides for method and system in which a heat-shrinkable plastic cover is placed over an individual conventional medicine container. The cover is heat shrunk around the container to form a tight-fitting seal which covers the majority of the original medication container. The seal must be opened in order to gain entry into an individual medication container just prior to the use or the administration of the product in the container. The seal includes an easy-open mechanism, such as a pull-tab or perforated tear strip. The purpose of the seal is to distinguish high-alert medications and requires an additional safety step in the medication administration process by requiring the removal of an additional cover which entirely encloses the container. The non-adhesive nature of the seal is significant in that the removal of the seal does not damage the original product labeling or leave unwanted residue on the medication container. The seal includes an integrated warning statement directed to point-of-use, high-alert medication preparations for the person preparing the medication for use. The level of repackaging would distinguish categories of high-alert medications, alerting users as to the classification of the medication. Application of the seal offers the user visual cues and “tactile awareness” different from the look and feel of the original container to distinguish high-alert medications from other medications.
