Abstract
Disclosed is an electromagnetic steel sheet component which can show satisfactory levels of weather resistance and magnetic property even when a plated layer is not provided therein. Also disclosed is a method for manufacture of the electromagnetic steel sheet component. The component comprises an electromagnetic steel sheet base material having the following composition: Si: 0.20 to 1.20% by weight; Mn: 1.0% by weight or less; Al: 1.0% by weight or less; and the remainder: Fe and unavoidable impurities, and an SiO2 layer provided on the surface of the base material. In the component, the Si content at the surface layer part including the SiO2 layer (X; % by weight) and the Si content in the base material (Y; % by weight) satisfies the following relationship: X / Y = 5.2 to 11.2. The method comprises annealing the electromagnetic steel base material under a gas atmosphere composed of H2 and H2O.
