Abstract

A new application of brevifolin relates to the new application in medicine of the brevifolin made from pomegranate leaf, in particular to medicinal application of the brevifolin for preventing preadipocyte in body from transforming to fat cell and treating disease caused by transformation. Experiments and studies show that the brevifolin has the effects of inhibiting intracellular TG from accumulating when the preadipocyte transforms to the fat cell, the activity of intracellular 3-phosphate dehydrogenase from increasing and in the late stage of differentiation and the activity of LPG from increasing in the accumulation of the intracellular TG in the fat cell. Therefore, the brevifolin can be used for preventing and treating obesity. When treating the obesity, the brevifolin is taken as active component. Furthermore, the brevifolin can be used independently or the brevifolin and other medicine are made into medicine with different forms for clinical use.
