[0054] As noted above, embodiments of the present invention generally relate to systems and methods for fabricating forged powder metal components with transverse features using core material. As used herein, "lateral feature" includes, but is not limited to, a depression in a forged powder metal part of any one or more of shape, size, and gauge. These depressions, and thus lateral features, may include, but are not limited to, holes, grooves, channels, notches, dimples, threads, cavities, undercuts, crosscuts, and indentations.
