The light emitting device further comprises a wavelength converting body comprising a first wavelength converting material, which is arranged to receive light emitted by said light source and which has an emission maximum in the range of from 600 to 700 nm. The first wavelength converting material comprises the elements Mg, Ge, O and Mn. A light emitting device according to the invention produces light having increased saturation of red colors.
