Abstract

The invention discloses a detection method for accumulated water and accumulated ice on a road surface based on a polarization measurement, and an apparatus thereof. The method is characterized in that: a polaroid is fixed in front of a CCD image sensor of a highway condition video camera, wherein the polaroid has a horizontal transmission direction; a TN liquid crystal is arranged in front of the polaroid and a control voltage electric circuit is arranged corresponding to the TN liquid crystal, wherein the control voltage electric circuit is provided for providing electric field for the TN liquid crystal; conditions of the accumulated water and the accumulated ice on the road surface are detected through a polarized light of reflected light of the road surface by using polarization characteristics of the light.
