Competitiveness of power plants designed for CO2 capture and compression, retrofit ready power plants and efficient ways to retrofit conventional power plants to CO2 capture plants will allow earlier utilization of CO2 capture systems (12). The objective of the present invention is to provide a fossil fired power plant with minimum impact of the CO2 capture system (12) on the conventional part of the plant as well as a method to operate such a plant.
