The video processing unit internally comprises a plurality of functional modules including an image defogging module, a video event analysis and detection module, a video image compressed encoding module, a video input device control module, a network drive module and the like. A dark channel defogging optimization algorithm based on prior expansion of dark spots is adopted in the image defogging module, which can be used to remove haze in images in real time so as to improve the definition of a surveillance video. The video event analysis and detection module can be used to detect smoke and open fire in the surveilled scene. The network drive module supports the data communication of three networks, namely, Ethernet, WiFi (Wireless Fidelity) and 3G (The 3rd Generation Telecommunication).
