Abstract

The invention provides an octahedral unit truss tension skin structure which is composed of an octahedral unit variable geometry truss and a hyperelastic film tension skin, wherein the octahedral unit variable geometry truss is composed of one or more octahedral basic units, each octahedral basic unit is composed of twelve equal-length truss rods and six spherical joints, and two adjacent octahedral basic units share one surface; and the octahedral unit variable geometry truss is wrapped and tensioned by the hyperelastic film skin, pressure is transferred to the spherical joints by the hyperelastic film skin, and then the pressure is transferred to the truss rods by the spherical joints, so that the truss rods bear axial pressure all the time without axial tension.
