Process for formulating a customized skin care product

The invention relates to a method and a process of determining individual skin structure and function at a point in time for the purpose of determining and formulating skin care products that remedy the deficiencies observed in the skin. Objective and repeatable dermal biometric instrumentation techniques can be used to measure skin moisture content, sebum content, firmness and elasticity properties, skin thickness, transepidermal water loss, skin pH and to perform a photo analysis of the face with UV and visible light. By customizing the skin care products, the individually added active ingredients can be controlled, the diluents can be modified, dermal penetration rates can be controlled, the surfactant systems can be adjusted, and the stability of the product can be controlled. To prevent the loss of active materials in the product, the skin care product is manufactured for an individual consumer and is only sold in a quantity of a three months supply. Additionally, a variety of ingredients can be combined that a mass produced product cannot contain due to stability/compatibility issues. This invention overcomes the limitations in formulating skin products for the mass market by providing a product designed with objective biometric data and created for the specific clinical condition of an individual's skin.

Leading edge construction for an aerodynamic surface and method of making the same

A leading edge structure for an aerodynamic surface includes a support structure made of fiber-reinforced synthetic material and a skin structure made of metal mounted on the support structure. The support structure includes an inner laminate, an outer laminate, and longitudinally extending tubes and channels arranged between the inner and outer laminates, as well as a synthetic foam filler material in the spaces between the tubes, channels, and laminates. The skin structure includes an outer skin having perforations, especially in the form of suction holes, an inner skin, and spacer members interconnected therebetween so as to form a substantially form-stable metal skin structure. Respective holes pass through the inner skin, the outer laminate, and the walls of the tubes and channels in order to communicate the suction hole perforations of the outer skin with the interior spaces within the tubes and channels. The skin structure is adhesively bonded to the support structure. In a method for making the leading edge structure, the prefabricated components of the support structure are laid up, molded and cured in a positive mold, the prefabricated components of the skin structure are formed and soldered together on a positive mold, and then the skin structure is adhesively bonded onto the support structure.

Skin Rejuvenation Cream

The subject invention relates to a skin cream that can be used to moisturize and rejuvenate skin that has been damaged by exposure to sunlight or which has simply been affected over the years by intrinsic aging. It can also be used to slow the rate of photo-induced aging to maintain beautiful skin tone and texture over the years. It inhibits the formation of wrinkles and in some cases reduces the depth of existing wrinkles or eliminates them entirely. In some cases, the skin cream of this invention also lightens age spots and other types of blemishes associated with aging. This invention is based upon the discovery that alkyl lactates, such as ethyl lactate, can be used to improve the penetration of active ingredients in skin care formulations deep into lower layers of the skin tissue. For instance, ethyl lactate can be included in aqueous based skin creams, such as oil in water emulsions, to deliver active ingredients deep into the skin structure. Ethyl lactate is particularly desirable for utilization in conjunction with ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) containing skin cream formulations. This is beneficial because the overall effectiveness of skin creams that utilize ascorbic acid as an active ingredient is contingent upon delivery of the ascorbic acid through the outer layers of the stratum corneum and viable epidermis and into the dermis layer of the skin structure. The present invention more specifically discloses a topical formulation comprising about 1 weight percent to about 20 weight percent ascorbic acid, about 1 weight percent to about 10 weight percent of an amino acid selected from the group consisting of phenylalanine and tyrosine, about 0.5 weight percent to about 5 weight percent of a non-toxic zinc salt, about 0.01 weight percent to about 20 weight percent of an alkyl lactate, wherein the alkyl group in the alkyl lactate contains from 2 to about 12 carbon atoms, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

Integrated skin capable of achieving heat shielding, heat insulation and stealth and preparation method of integrated skin

The invention provides an integrated skin capable of achieving heat shielding, heat insulation and stealth and a preparation method of the integrated skin. The integrated skin comprises a wave-transparent ceramic-based composite material, an electrical loss-type wave-absorbing heat-insulating integrated layer, a transition layer, an organic wave-absorbing layer, and a metal structural layer from the outside in, wherein the functional layers are connected through ceramic-based composite bolt members so as to form the skin structure. The skin has the advantages that the stealth performance, heatshielding and heat insulation performance and structural load-carrying capacity are designed comprehensively and optimally, insufficient broadband wave-absorbing performance, low structural strengthand other problems of stealth structural materials are solved effectively under high temperature conditions, and finally the design of the integrated skin capable of achieving the stealth function isachieved; the broadband stealth performance is achieved through the design of a multi-layer wave-absorbing periodic structure or a resistive film, and the electrical loss-type high temperature-resistant wave-absorbing structure with an heat insulation function is designed on the outer layer of the integrated skin capable of achieving heat shielding, heat insulation and stealth, so that heat insulation, cooling and absorption of high-frequency electromagnetic waves are achieved; and the working temperature of an inner-layer magnetic wave-absorbing material is made lower than the Curie temperature of the inner-layer magnetic wave-absorbing material, and finally the integrated skin capable of achieving heat shielding, heat insulation and stealth is obtained.
