Measuring assembly for ice adhesion

A measuring assembly measures the adhesion between a fixed part and a movable part wherein the fixed part and movable part have ice extending therebetween. The measuring assembly includes a chamber for maintaining the ice, the fixed part and the movable part and the movable part at a predetermined temperature. A tension generator applies a force to the movable part to separate the movable part from the fixed part. A tension gauge measures the force required to overcome the adhesion between the movable part and the ice to remove the movable part from the fixed part. A kind of ice adhesion strength testing method and device

The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for testing the ice adhesion strength. The apparatus comprises parts of a sample mount, refrigeration units, a water titration unit, a sliding knife, a force sensor and the like. The method for testing the ice adhesion strength comprises the following steps: fixing a test piece to be tested on the sample mount, and refrigerating the test piece to be tested by the bottom refrigeration unit; titrating quantitative water to the surface of the test piece to be tested by a water titration device to allow water to rapidly freeze on the surface of the test piece to be tested when the temperature of the test piece to be tested achieves a preset refrigeration temperature; and parallelly trimming convex ice hulls on the surface of the test piece by the sliding knife with the force sensor, testing maximal force when ice is peeled (or ruptured), and treating the maximal force as the ice adhesion strength for characterizing the surface of a material or a coating. According to the method and the apparatus provided by the invention, the principle and the structure are simple, the operation is simple and convenient, and the tangential adhesion strength between the surface of the material (or the coating) and ice can be actually characterized; and the repetition reliability and the accuracy of tests can be guaranteed because main parameters of the freezing rule, the pattern, the experimental temperature and the like are accurately controlled.

The invention relates to a method and device for ice adhesion strength normal force on a material surface. The testing method comprises the following steps of: vertically pressing an adhesion probe dipped with a certain amount of water onto the refrigerated surface of a sample to be tested, and waiting till a contact surface is iced and becomes adhesive; and vertically pulling the adhesion probe, measuring the maximum force in a stripping process, and converting the contact area of the adhesion probe to a quantitative parameter representing the normal ice adhesion strength of the sample to be tested. The device comprises a frame / sample fixed station, a refrigerating temperature control unit, an adhesion probe, a probe pushing and pulling mechanism, a force transducer, an adhesion probe dipping water vessel and the like. A water icing process is taken as an adhesive adhesion process, and the conventional testing errors and environmental interference can be avoided by quantitatively controlling the temperature, the icing water amount and the contact end area of the adhesion probe and applying load. The method and the device have the advantages of simple principle and structure, convenience for operating, high repeatability, and real representation of the normal adhesion strength of material (or coating) surfaces and ice.

Environment-friendly wear-resistant low-ice-adhesion anti-icing paint and preparation method and application thereof

The invention provides an anti-icing paint which consists of inorganic nanoparticles and water-based resin, wherein the inorganic nanoparticles are uniformly dispersed in the water-based resin and then coated on a substrate to form a film, and after the film is solidified, the anti-icing paint is obtained. Due to use of the water-based resin, the anti-icing paint is environment-friendly; and due to the existence of ions obtained by ionization of hydrophilic groups, such as carboxyl, and restricted water on the macromolecule surface, a non-icing water film is formed on the surface of the anti-icing paint, so that a lubricating layer is introduced between ice and the anti-icing coating, and therefore the adhesion strength between the surface of the substrate and the ice is greatly reduced. Meanwhile, the mechanical strength of the coating can be enhanced due to addition of the rigid inorganic nanoparticles, the coating is endowed with excellent wear resistance and the service life of the coating is prolonged.

The invention provides preparation methods of a two-component waterborne wear-resisting and low-ice-adhesion anti-icing coating and a coating layer thereof. The two-component waterborne anti-icing coating is composed of a component A containing a core-shell structure polymer emulsion and inorganic nanoparticles and a component B containing a curing agent. An outer layer of the core-shell structure polymer emulsion in the component A of the anti-icing coating is a hydrophilic shell layer, so that polymer emulsion particles can be stably dispersed in water, and the advantages of being green and environmentally friendly are provided. The inorganic nano particles in the component A are rigid particles, can improve the mechanical properties of the anti-icing coating layer, endow the coating layer with excellent wear resistance and prolong the service life of the coating layer. After the coating is cured into a film, the hydrophilic shell layer of the polymer emulsion particles can absorb moisture, and thus a water lubricating layer is formed on the surface of the coating layer; when the coating layer surface is iced, due to the existence of the water lubricating layer, the acting force between ice and the coating layer is decreased, besides, the substrate surface roughness is also reduced, and the contact area between the ice and the substrate is decreased.

Some variations provide a low-ice-adhesion coating comprising a microstructure with a first-material phase and a second-material phase that are microphase-separated on an average length scale of phase inhomogeneity from 1 micron to 100 microns. Some variations provide a low-ice-adhesion material comprising a continuous matrix containing a first component; and a plurality of discrete inclusions containing a second component, wherein the inclusions are dispersed within the matrix to form a phase-separated microstructure that is inhomogeneous on an average length scale from 1 micron to 100 microns, wherein one of the first component or the second component is a low-surface-energy polymer, and the other is a hygroscopic material. The coatings are characterized by an AMIL Centrifuge Ice Adhesion Reduction Factor up to 100 or more. These coatings are useful for aerospace surfaces and other applications.

The invention discloses a lubricating organic-silicon anti-icing coating and a preparation method thereof. The organic-silicon anti-icing coating is prepared by the following steps: taking hydrogen-containing polydimethylsiloxane as a main chain, single-terminal vinyl polydimethylsiloxane as a branched chain, double-terminal vinyl polydimethyl iloxane as a cross-linking agent, and polydimethylsiloxane which does not participated in a crosslinking reaction as an additive, and carrying out a ''one-step method'' to prepare the lubricating organic-silicon anti-icing coating. The branched chain formed by the single-terminal vinyl polydimethylsiloxane provides a storage space for the oil-lubricating polydimethylsiloxane which does not participated in the reaction; and under a low temperature, the unreacted polydimethylsiloxane migrates to the surface to reduce the ice adhesion strength of the coating. The ice shearing strength of the lubricating organic-silicon anti-icing coating prepared bythe ''one-step method'' can be low to 4.5 kPa. The coating provided by the invention has the advantages of easily available materials, simple and convenient preparation method and controllable condition, and has a great application prospect in solving the problem of preventing ice coverage on the surfaces of infrastructures.

Anti-icing film and preparation method thereof

The invention provides an anti-icing film and a preparation method thereof. The method includes the following steps: mixing a certain proportion of low surface energy resin, conductive fillers, a cross-linking agent and a catalyst, and coating and curing to prepare the anti-icing film with low surface energy and capable of powering on to generate heat. The content of each of components is controlled to ensure that the prepared anti-icing film not only has good electrical conductivity, but also can be powered on to generate the heat to de-ice, has certain mechanical strength, and enables the service life to be prolonged. Durable icephobic surfaces

Durable icephobic materials form anti-ice coatings on a variety of substrates, including for aircraft, powerlines, vehicles, marine structures, communications towers, outdoor equipment, and the like.The icephobic material may comprise an elastomeric polymer with a low crosslink density (e.g., <= 1,300 mol / m3) and low initial ice adhesion strength (e.g., [tau]ice <= 100 kPa prior to exposure to icing conditions). Further, the icephobic material maintains [tau]ice after 10 icing / deicing cycles that is >= 50% of the initial [tau]ice Introducing optional miscible liquids enhances interfacial slippage of chains in the elastomeric polymer. The low [tau]ice levels minimize ice buildup and eliminate necessary work to remove any accumulated ice via passive removal during normal operation. Other icephobic materials include linear polymers with plasticizers distributed therein or PDMS-silane coatings, both of which are free of any layers of surface liquids. The invention relates to a deicing and anti-icing fluid, particularly a non-Newtonian fuselage deicing and anti-icing fluid and a preparation method thereof. The non-Newtonian fuselage deicing and anti-icing fluid can reduce adhesion of ice on the object surface to eliminate and prevent icing on the aircraft fuselage surface, and has superlong anti-icing retention time. The non-Newtonian fuselage deicing and anti-icing fluid comprises the following components in parts by mass: 40-60 parts of freezing-point depressant, 0.05-1.2 parts of rheologic modifier, 0.01-0.3 part of anti-icing compounding agent, 0.01-3 parts of pH regulator, 0.01-3 parts of corrosion inhibitor, 0.01-0.5 part of staining agent and 40-60 parts of deionized water. The invention is based on the low-temperature rheologic research, especially aims at the low-temperature operating environment and characteristics of the deicing and anti-icing fluid, and determines the distribution and arrangement of the main chain and branch chain of the rheologic modifier as well as the preparation and acquisition method of the low-temperature conformation. By combining the anti-icing compounding agent, corrosion inhibitor and other assistants in the formula, the prepared deicing and anti-icing fluid has the characteristics of excellent shearing restorability, excellent ice adhesion inhibition capacity at 0 to -20 DEG C, and long anti-icing time.
