Abstract

A device is introduced for cell-balancing the battery cells (1) of a battery having a plurality of battery cells (1) which are connected in series. The device comprises a measuring device which is connected or can be connected to each of the battery cells (1) and which is designed to generate a current which is proportional to a minimum cell voltage of all the cell voltages of the battery cells (1) and to output said current to a multiplicity of resistors (3) which are connected in series. The device also contains a multiplicity of comparators (14) which compare a cell voltage of an assigned battery cell (1) to the minimum cell voltage which is replicated by the current which is proportional to the minimum cell voltage, and the resistors (3). The comparators (14) are designed here to output a control signal, which is dependent on a result of the comparison, to an assigned discharging unit (15) which allows a discharge current to flow from the respective battery cell (1) as a function of the control signal. The invention also introduces a battery with such a device for cell balancing and a motor vehicle having such a battery.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a device for balancing (charge balancing) the battery cells of a battery having a plurality of battery cells connected in series, wherein according to the invention no control by a microcontroller is required and the device is also autonomous run autonomously. Background technique [0002] It is obvious that in the future battery systems will be increasingly used not only in stationary applications but also in vehicles such as hybrid and electric vehicles. In order to be able to meet the required voltage and available power requirements for the respective application, a large number of battery cells are connected in series. The failure of a battery cell can lead to failure of the battery due to the series connection, which in turn leads to failure of the entire system, so that particularly safety-related applications place high demands on the reliability of the battery. In order to be able to ascertain the state of the batter...
