Butadiene, isoprene, and Terpene-based materials are soluble in polymer matrices such as polyethylene terephthalate. Cobalt or manganese compounds can be oxygen scavengers when present and have been found to have significantly reduced turbidity in the final packaging.

Background technique [0003] The use of scavengers in plastic packaging to improve the barrier to oxygen is well known. [0004] US20020183448 discloses reacting reactively functionalized polybutadiene with a base polyester to form oxygen scavenging preforms and bottles.
