Abstract

The present invention discloses a method and system for diagnosing the location and nature of a crankcase system integrity breach using a crankcase vent tube pressure or flow sensor. The sensor can also be used to diagnose air filter clogging and PCV valve degradation. Utilizing existing sensors to diagnose multiple engine components provides the benefits of cost reduction and sensor streamlining.
