Abstract

This application relates to a flyback converter with secondary side regulation. The disclosed examples include a flyback converter (100), a control circuit (114, 130), and a method to facilitate secondary side regulation of an output voltage (VO). The primary side control circuit (114) operates the primary side switch (S1) in a first mode to independently initiate a power transfer cycle to deliver power to the transformer secondary winding (122). The secondary side control circuit (130) operates the synchronous rectifier or the secondary side switch (S2) to generate a predetermined cycle start request signal via the transformer auxiliary winding (118) to employ secondary side regulation and cause the primary side controller (114) A new power transfer cycle is initiated.
