The method is realized as follows: separating from the airplane radar's echo data a rotor echo signal; extracting the time domain and the Doppler domain three-order LPC coefficients of the rotor echo signal to form the eigenvectors; normalizing the eigenvectors; using the eigenvectors of a training sample to train a classifier; and inputting the eigenvectors of the testing sample to the classifier for classifications. According to the invention, the three-order LPC technology is applied to the airplane target classification field and the method can still achieve a good classification effect even under the condition that repetition frequency is low and the staying time is short. The method can be used for the classification of three kinds of airplane targets.
