Abstract

The invention discloses a rice OsMts1 gene and a coding protein and application thereof. The rice OsMts1 gene is obtained by utilizing a map-based cloning technology and cloning a pls1 mutant of 'Zhong-Hui 8015' of a 60 Co-gamma radiation induced mutation indica type rice variety. It is proved in the pls1 mutant through a transgene function complementation experiment that the gene controls rice premature senility. In addition, it is found through gene function analysis that the gene affects chloroplast development by regulating and controlling active oxygen and thus causes leaf premature senility. The gene and its coding protein can be applied to breeding of premature senility resistant plant varieties.
