A method of designing a PSS (Power System Stabilizer) based on wide-area multi-signal input hierarchical control includes the following steps: (1) using a high-precision identification algorithm to directly derive a precise low-order linear model of a system through field measurement data or nonlinear time-domain simulation; (2) selecting multiple wide-area signals with strong observability and controllability from the whole system as the feedback input of controllers; (3) implementing hierarchical control; (4) designing a different fixed time delay compensation link for each mode in order to eliminate the influence of the time delay of the wide-area signals on the control effect; and (5) superposing signals output by mode controllers and taking the superposed signal as final control output of a PSS based on wide-area multi-signal input hierarchical control.
