Abstract

A storage controller is arranged in the storage server. A compression module is arranged in the storage controller and used for compressing image data. The system also comprises a GUI management assembly. A user manages and operates the storage server through the GUI management assembly. A compression volume is established in the GUI management assembly and mapped to the filing server. The compression volume is used for carrying out process communication on the compression module on an operation system layer and directly compresses image data on a device block layer, sends the compressed image data to the filing server for storage. When filing images on a PACS system, data blocks are compressed from the device layer, image data flows are sent to the filing server and real-time decompression can be performed during checking of the images.
