[0094] Example 1: Measurement of Liver Vitamin E Content in Broilers

[0095] This study evaluated the efficacy of various enzymes on vitamin E utilization by broiler chickens fed a reduced nutrient corn-soybean based diet.

[0096] Day-old male broiler chickens were divided into eight groups and fed one of the following diets: (PC is a positive control formulated to meet commercial recommendations; NC is a negative control; XAP is a combination of xylanase, amylase and protease ):

[0097] 1) PC

[0098] 2) PC+XAP 50mg / MT

[0099] 3) PC+XAP 100mg / MT

[0100] 4) PC+xylanase B

[0101] 5)NC

[0102] 6) NC+XAP 50mg / MT

[0103] 7) NC+XAP 100mg / MT

[0104] 8) NC+xylanase B

[0105] Feed and water were provided ad libitum from days 1 to 21. Room temperature, ventilation and light were maintained according to Animal Science Research Unit standard operation procedure. The birds were monitored daily for any signs of discomfort or poor body condition. Cull any chickens showi...

Abstract

The present disclosure relates to methods and compositions to increase the uptake of fat soluble vitamins from animal feed through increase in fat digestibility.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to methods and compositions for increasing the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins from animal feed by increasing fat digestibility. Background technique [0002] Vitamins are essential components of a healthy animal diet. Most vitamins cannot be synthesized by animals and must therefore be ingested through animal feed. Many animals do not obtain adequate levels of the vitamin through diet alone, and therefore farmers use vitamin premixes to supplement the animal's diet. This can be costly and requires additional ingredients such as synthetic antioxidants (e.g. ethoxyquin or butyl-p-cresol (BHT)) in order to improve the storage stability of the vitamins (TheVitamins, by Gerald F . Combs). Therefore, there remains a need to find improved ways for animals to obtain increased vitamin absorption from feed. Contents of the invention [0003] The compositions and methods of the present invention relate to methods of treati...
