Abstract

The invention discloses an AGV control system and method based on the edge computing. The system comprises a server side, edge devices, and AGVs. The server side performs a task planning based on theinformation of all the AGVs stored internally and the environmental information in the global scope after the task is loaded to the server side, and sends the task information to an edge device corresponding to the area where the AGV having a task to be executed is located after performing the regional-level path planning. The edge device sends the task to the AGV having a task to be executed after performing the path planning inside the area where the AGV is located. The AGV moves according to the path planned by the server side and the edge device to complete the task. According to the AGV control system and method based on the edge computing, some tasks are completed by the edge devices to save the server resources; multiple edge devices respectively control the AGVs in each area to avoid the problem that the signal is weakened and cannot be connected due to the excessive area; the AGVs communicate directly with the edge devices to avoid the network congestion caused by all the AGVscommunicating directly with the server.
