Abstract

A temperature control system for an engine (12). The temperature control system includes a thermal storage expansion tank (24) defining an insulated interior volume (26) therein for storing engine coolant. The temperature control system also includes a pump (34) configured to pump engine coolant that has left the thermal storage expansion tank (24) back to the thermal storage expansion tank (24) when the engine (12) is off. Engine coolant is stored in the insulated interior volume (26) and air is forced out of the heat storage expansion tank (24) in the insulated interior volume (26).
