Embodiment Construction

[0031] The present invention provides systems, methods, scope devices and camera control module devices for stroboscopic laryngoscopes to enable scopes capable of operating with rolling shutter type image sensors. By selectively pulsing the strobe lights, a subset of image data from adjacent rolling shutter frames is selected and combined into a new single video frame.

[0032] figure 1 is a diagram showing the setup of a medical stroboscopic inspection system according to an example embodiment. For the examination, the patient 15 preferably has a microphone 12 attached to the front of his neck near his throat or mounted in a suitable position to detect the patient's vocalizations during the examination, such as speaking and singing certain tones as requested by the examiner Wait. The figure shows a flexible stroboscopic laryngoscope 100 passed through the patient's nose to point along the front of the neck to the larynx and vocal cords. Alternatively, a rigid or flexible ...

Abstract

A video laryngoscope system includes an imager, an audio processing circuitry, a light source, an exposure controller, and a line gain module. The imager generates a first frame and a second frame ofa plurality of video frames using a rolling shutter. The audio processing circuitry determines a base frequency of a vocalization based on an audio signal. The light source generates pulses of light based on the base frequency. The exposure controller adjusts a duration and position in time of the pulses based on the base frequency during the first and second frames. The line gain module selectively applies a line gain to at least a portion of the first frame and a portion of the second frame based on a gap time between the first frame and the second frame and the duration and position in timeof the pulses.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims priority to U.S. Application Serial No. 15 / 814,779, filed November 16, 2017, and U.S. Application Serial No. 16 / 019,020, filed June 26, 2018, the entire contents of which are hereby incorporated by reference. technical field [0003] The present invention relates generally to the field of medical imaging examinations, and more particularly to stroboscopes for examining the vocal cords. Background technique [0004] Video stroboscopy is a medical examination procedure that combines video observation and display with specially timed illumination to evaluate the function of the vocal cords or larynx. During vocal production such as speaking and singing, the vocal folds of the larynx vibrate too rapidly to discern motion under constant lighting conditions. Stroboscopic examination addresses this problem by illuminating the larynx with a strobe light. The strobe light flashes at a rate that matches...
