[0274]Embodiments of the current subject matter include methods, apparatus, articles, and systems related to evaporator heaters employing non-linear positive temperature coefficient of resistivity (PTCR) heating elements (also referred to as "PTCR heaters"). It should be noted that "non-linear" refers to a PTCR heating element within the operating range of the PTCR heating element. While a portion of the operating range may exhibit a linear resistivity, the resistivity changes significantly under transition temperature conditions, where the rate of change of the resistivity becomes orders of magnitude larger. In this way the PTCR heating element can be temperature self limiting and given the range of applied voltage is known, the sharp increase in resistance limits the current so the PTCR heating element will not heat beyond a specific operating temperature.
