Abstract

An electronic device comprises a connection port, a detection circuit and a control circuit. The connection port is provided with a signal contact end and a power supply contact end. The detection circuit detects the voltage of the signal contact end. The control circuit is coupled with the detection circuit and controls the operation power of a processing circuit according to the voltage of the signal contact end. When a power adapter is plugged into the connection port and the voltage of the signal contact end is equal to a preset voltage, the control circuit indicates the processing circuitto operate in a first mode. When the power adapter is plugged into the connection port and the voltage of the signal contact end is not equal to the preset voltage, the control circuit indicates theprocessing circuit to operate in a second mode. In the first mode, the processing circuit has a first power. In the second mode, the processing circuit has a second power. The second power is greaterthan the first power.
