The one-bit phase shifter is configured to shift the phase of an incoming signal by either 90° or 270° depending on the value of the phase state. The one-bit phase shifter is also bidirectional, allowing for phase shifting of the transmitted and reflected signals. A plurality of these antenna elements are provided on a semiconductor device having an exposed top metal layer. The top metal layer is used to form the patch antennas.
