An example antenna structure includes a multi-layered printed circuit board (PCB); a folded magnetoelectric antenna element including a first portion disposed on a first layer of the multi-layered PCB and a first fold portion contiguous to the first portion and extending to at least a second layer of the multi-layered PCB; and a patch antenna element disposed on a third layer of the multi-layered PCB, wherein the first, second, and third layers are separate layers of the multi-layered PCB. The antenna structure further includes a first feeding port electrically coupled to the patch antenna element, and a second feeding port electrically coupled to the patch antenna element, where the first and second feeding ports are associated with different polarizations.

Disclosed is an antenna having a plurality of radiator columns and an integrated phase shifter / calibration board. The radiator columns have radiator clusters that may be differentially phase to provide beam tilt. The input traces of each of the phase shifters is capacitively coupled to a Wilkinson power divider that sums the power of all the input signals, thereby providing a calibration function. The output traces of each of the phase shifters has a designated meander pattern that provides phase alignment for all the output signals to prevent phase mismatches between signals fed to the radiator clusters.

A terahertz imaging system is disclosed. The terahertz imaging system includes a terahertz antenna array, made up of a plurality of antenna elements. Each antenna element includes a patch antenna, a one bit phase shifter, and a plurality of storage elements. The storage elements are used to store a plurality of phase states that are supplied to the one bit phase shifter. The one bit phase shifter is configured to either shift the phase of the incoming signal by 90 or 270, depending on the value of the phase state. The one bit phase shifter is also bidirectional, allowing it to phase shift transmitted signals and reflected signals. A plurality of these antenna elements are disposed in a semiconductor device, where the top metal layer is exposed. This top metal layer is used to create the patch antennas.

The phased array antenna includes a support structure and a first antenna module coupled to the support structure. The first antenna module element has a rectangular shape and includes a first set of antenna elements arranged as a first row and a second row within the rectangular shape. An antenna element of the first row and two antenna elements of the second row form a triangular pattern. The antenna system includes at least one antenna module, wherein the antenna module may include a plurality of antennas formed on one surface of a first board, and a beamforming chip formed on one surface of a second board, wherein the plurality of antennas is connected to the beamforming chip through a plurality of microstrip lines and a waveguide.

A dual band radiating element and modular antenna array suitable for application in space communications is provided. The dual band radiating element comprises a stacked patch antenna for transmitting RF signal of a first signal frequency band (e.g. S-Band) and receiving RF signals of a second signal frequency band (e.g. L-Band). The concentric design of the radiating element can achieve savings in material and mass compared to other stacked patch antennas. For effective operation in space applications, a first radiation patch in the radiating element is isolated from a second radiation patch by shielding a feed pin to the first radiation patch as it travels through the dielectric layer separating the patches. Individual radiating elements can be attached to individual filter / amplification units in a modular antenna array allowing for individual components to be easily installed, repaired or replaced with minimal impact to the rest of the antenna array and / or spacecraft.

A modular radar system comprises an antenna assembly, a support structure to which the antenna assembly is mounted, and a set of modular radar subsystems. A multi-beam cellular antenna is provided, comprising: an antenna array having a plurality of modules, each module including at least three columns of radiating elements, each column of radiating elements having a first polarized radiator, wherein the columns of radiating elements of at least one module are staggered relative to each other; and an antenna feed network configured to couple at least a first input signal and a second input signal to each first polarized radiator of each radiating element included in a first module of the plurality of modules.

A modular subarray is provided that includes horn apertures coupled to corresponding waveguide polarizers coupled to transmit waveguide filters and receive waveguide filters that establish transmit ports and receive ports. The transmit ports and the receive ports are coupled through a waveguide adapter plate to individual isolation cavities each formed in a body of an amplifier-filter module that houses amplifier / filter elements and couple transmit radio frequency signaling and receive radio frequency signaling to coaxial connections penetrating the isolation cavities. The subarray also includes a circuit card assembly comprising the coaxial connections coupled to stripline links formed by a printed circuit board, wherein the stripline links couple to beamforming circuitry, and a high-density digital connector mounted to the circuit card assembly and configured to carry input / output radio frequency signaling for the subarray to / from the beamforming circuitry.
