Abstract

The optical waveguide adder comprises N optical wave attenuators and an optical waveguide coupler; the optical wave attenuators are used for receiving optical carrier wave and electric signals containing addend information, modulating the power of the optical carrier wave according to the addend information, generating a modulated optical carrier wave and transmitting the modulated optical carrier wave to the optical waveguide coupler; and the optical waveguide coupler is used for coupling the modulated optical carrier wave to a coupled optical waveguide; wherein the optical power in the coupled optical waveguide is the sum of the power of the N modulated optical carrier waves. The adder facilitates coupling and integration in an opticalcomputer.
