Problems solved by technology

The problem with this method is: the spatial optical path cannot completely separate the ASE light, and there is a certain systematic error; too long optical fiber is easy to introduce bending loss and mode scrambling effect, changing the pump absorption characteristics; and, the number of measurements is not enough, it is easy to introduce random error
The problem with this method is that: the oscillator structure is formed, and the signal light in the fiber core is strong at this time, which may cause stimulated absorption, thereby overestimating the absorption of the fiber; Cutting, different cutting angles will affect the laser, thus affecting the measurement of absorption coefficient

Abstract

The invention relates to a gain fiber absorption coefficient measuring device and method based on side scattered light detection. The device comprises an optical fiber detector and an optical fiber fixing table; the optical fiber detector is arranged on the optical fiber fixing table through a sliding structure; the opposite surfaces of the optical fiber detector and the optical fiber fixing table form a tubular channel with a fixed cross section shape; the direction of the tubular channel is consistent with the sliding direction of the optical fiber detector; and the tubular channel is used for fixedly placing a to-be-measured gain optical fiber. When test optical signals pass through the to-be-measured gain optical fiber, the optical fiber detector slides to a plurality of measurement positions to obtain side scattered light signals of the to-be-measured gain optical fiber. According to the device, the measurement distance of the to-be-measured gain optical fiber is fixed by the optical fiber detector, the absorption coefficient is calculated by obtaining the side scattered light signals of the to-be-measured gain optical fiber; the optical fiber does not need to be cut or moved during measurement, so that measurement errors caused by measurement operation factors can be reduced; and measuring time can be obviously shortened, so that the measuring error caused by the precision fluctuation factor of a measuring instrument is reduced.

Description

technical field [0001] The present application relates to the field of fiber laser technology, in particular to a device and method for measuring the absorption coefficient of gain fiber based on side scattered light detection. Background technique [0002] Gain fiber is one of the core components of optical lasers. Its role is to absorb pump light and generate particle population flips, thereby providing gain for the laser. Measuring the pump absorption coefficient of the gain fiber is of great significance for the fiber drawing process, the construction of the fiber laser and the suppression of nonlinear effects. [0003] The current system and method for measuring the absorption coefficient of gain fibers is mainly based on the law of exponential attenuation of pump light, using the truncation method to measure the remaining pump light output when different gain fiber lengths are used, and then calculate the fiber absorption coefficient. [0004] Existing technology 1 (a...
