Abstract

The invention relates to a system and a method for operating a turbocharged gas turbine engine. A power generation system (100) includes a combustion system (102), a turbocharger (106), and a heat recovery system (104). The combustion system (102) is configured to burn a fuel with the airflow. The combustion system (102) is further configured to generate an exhaust stream. The turbocharger (106) is configured to compress the flow of compressed air and direct the flow of compressed air to the combustion system (102). The combustion system (102) is configured to burn a fuel with a compressed airflow and an additional airflow. The heat recovery system (104) is configured to recover heat from the exhaust stream and drive the turbocharger (106). The heat recovery system (104) uses a supercritical working fluid to absorb heat from the exhaust stream and drive the turbocharger (106).

[0002] A gas turbine engine typically includes at least one compressor, at least one burner, and at least one turbine arranged in a serial flow configuration. Typically, a compressor directs compressed air to a burner where it is mixed with a fuel flow and combusted to form a high temperature combustion gas flow that is directed toward the turbine before being discharged from the gas turbine engine.
