Embodiment 1
[0093] By mixing granular polypropylene (average particle size 3mm–5mm) with PPA composition (particle size 0.1mm–0.5mm) in a hot rotary mixer from Brabender Plasti-Corder at 180°C, 80rpm for 8 minutes to obtain Three concentrate compositions (1mm-5mm flakes) were prepared containing 1800ppm, Concentrate compositions of polymer processing additive compositions (PPA-1 to PPA-3) at 600 ppm and 300 ppm. PPA-1 contains a fluoropolymer processing additive (VDF-HPF copolymer with a Mooney viscosity of 40-60; ASTM D 1646-06 part A). PPA-2 contains a silicone processing additive (polydiorganosiloxane-amide block copolymer prepared according to US Patent Application 2011-0244159 (Papp et al.)). PPA-3 contains a mixture of PPA-1 and PPA-2 in a weight ratio of 1:1, that is, a 300ppm PPA-3 concentrate contains 150ppm PPA-1 and 150ppm PPA-2.
[0094] Extrusion experiments were carried out on a single-screw extruder to study rheological properties on a BRABENDER laboratory workstation. T...
Embodiment 2
[0102] Example 1 was repeated, this time using the polymer processing additive compositions PPA-3a and PPA-3b instead of PPA-3. PPA-3a and PPA-3b are mixtures of PPA-1 and PPA-2 with different weight ratios. PPA-3a comprises PPA-1 and PPA-2 in a weight ratio of 1:3. PPA-3b comprises PPA-1 and PPA-2 in a weight ratio of 3:1. Extrusion experiments using both PPA-3a and PPA-3b showed a greater pressure drop than experiments using PPA-1 and PPA-2. The pressure drop for PPA-3a and PPA-3b was lower than that observed for PPA-1 in Example 1. The pressure drop of PPA-3a is greater than that of PPA-3b.
