[0023] Personalized cancer medicine involves matching cancer-causing mutations from patients with appropriate targeted drug therapies. Drugs (eg, drugs, biologics, etc.) can include any suitable therapy in preclinical, clinical, or postclinical studies. Provided herein are methods, systems, and computer-readable media for ranking medications according to a medication effectiveness score based on patient-specific medication characteristics.

[0024] Literature pertaining to preclinical, clinical, or approved drugs can be accessed and analyzed to determine the relationship between drugs, genes, gene variants, and biological pathways of a particular disease, such as a type of cancer. A user interface that may be provided within the document management portal enables a user to query a database regarding drug efficacy or other drug characteristics (eg, drug efficacy, drug toxicity, etc.) for a particular type of cancer.

[0025] To achieve this, evidence related to drug administra...

Abstract

Computer based methods, systems, and computer readable media for intelligently accessing various types of pharmaceutical information in a content repository and ranking drugs at the variant level, gene level, and pathway level. In some cases, drugs that target the same gene, gene variant, or biological pathway may be ranked based upon in vitro, pre-clinical, clinical, or post-clinical evidence. To determine ranking of a plurality of drugs, information pertaining to drug administration is analyzed for the drugs. For a plurality of drugs, attributes corresponding to the drug are determined, wherein the attributes include a variant or a gene targeted by the drug, and a biological pathway comprising the targeted variant or gene. The plurality of drugs are ranked according to a drug effectiveness score based on one or more of a determined efficacy, potency, or toxicity.

Description

technical field [0001] Embodiments of the present invention relate to medication effectiveness, and more specifically, to using machine learning to analyze medication information to generate patient-specific medication effectiveness rankings and intelligently search and extract medication-related content. Background technique [0002] Databases and article repositories often contain large numbers of documents of different types of information. For example, users can access NCBI's The database is searched for different types of contemporaneously reviewed scientific and clinical documents. A number of drugs could potentially be used to treat patients with diseases driven by common genomic alterations such as HER-2-positive breast cancer. However, the efficacy and potency of each of these individual drugs often varies significantly between patients. [0003] Although a variety of databases are available covering clinical and experimental information, these databases do not ...
