Embodiment Construction

[0027] figure 1 Shown is a multi-band equalizer 100 for adjusting the signal strength of a multi-band frequency signal received by a receiver according to the first embodiment herein. The multiband equalizer includes a plurality (n) of resonators 101, 102, 103.... Each resonator has a first 1-terminal, a second 2-terminal and a third 3-terminal. Each resonator includes an inductor Ln (n=1,2,3...) connected between a first terminal and a second terminal and two programmable capacitors connected in series between the first terminal and the second terminal Cn1 / Cn2, n=1, 2, 3 . . . The interconnection of the two programmable capacitors is tapped and connected to a third terminal.

[0028] A plurality of resonators are connected in series such that a third terminal of a preceding resonator is connected to a first terminal of a subsequent resonator. For example, the third terminal of the first resonator 101 is connected to the first terminal of the second resonator 102, and so o...

Abstract

On-chip Multi-band equalizers for adjusting signal strength for a receiver receiving multi-band frequency signals are provided. The multi-band equalizer comprises multiple series connected tapped LC resonators. The tapped LC resonator may be capacitive tapping or inductive tapping, where both frequency and gain of the frequency bands of interest may be programmed by tuning the capacitances of the programmable capacitors and / or selecting the tapped out terminals of the inductors. The multi-band equalizer may be connected to a signal node, for instance between two amplifiers in the receiver.

Description

technical field [0001] Embodiments herein relate to multi-band equalizers. In particular, they relate to multi-band equalizers for adjusting the signal strength of a multi-band frequency signal received by a receiver in a communication device. Background technique [0002] Wireless communication devices or equipment typically include a transceiver that includes a transmitter and a receiver. A transmitter typically upconverts a baseband signal to a radio frequency (RF) signal for transmission, and a receiver downconverts the received RF signal to a baseband signal for further processing. [0003] In wireless devices like cellular base stations, there is a trend towards ultra-wideband implementations of receivers and transmitters. There is also a trend towards more integrated solutions, ie using integrated circuits to implement more functions on a chip. These trends are aimed at reducing costs and increasing solution flexibility. According to this trend, wideband integrate...
