The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a secondary battery, the method comprising: a cap assembly manufacturing step (S10) for manufacturing a cap assembly by disposing a top cap, having a top hole formed therein, on the upper portion, and disposing a safety vent, having a vent hole formed therein, below the top cap, and then disposing a CID filter, having a CID hole formed therein, below the safety vent; an electrode assembly and electrolyte receiving step (S20) for receiving an electrode assembly inside a can, and then injecting an electrolyte so that same is impregnated in the electrode assembly; a preliminary battery manufacturing step (S30) comprising a placement process for disposing the cap assembly on the upper portion of the can, and a coupling process for coupling a positive electrode tab, provided on the electrode assembly, to the bottom surface of the CID filter of the cap assembly so that the front end of the positive electrode tab closes the CID hole; an activation step (S40) for charging / discharging the preliminary battery; and a gas discharge step (S50) for, when the positive electrode tab, tightly adhering to the CID filter, is pressed downward through the CID hole, vent hole and top hole of the cap assembly, opening the CID hole and discharging gas, generated inside the can, to the outside through the CID hole, vent hole and top hole.
