Problems solved by technology

However, it has been found that while such processed topsheets may require upward price adjustments, the benefits of increased fluid penetration may be less significant
Furthermore, given consumers' recent desire to use environmentally friendly products, there is greater pressure to use as little material as possible for absorbent articles

[0090] Material example

[0091] A 12 gsm spunbond nonwoven FTXNL SSS P10 commercially available from Fibertex (MRMP #95905774) was so processed and subjected to the acquisition velocity, rewet and air permeability measurements described above to provide the results shown in Table 1 .

Abstract

The invention discloses an absorbent article. The absorbent article comprises a substrate; (a) a topsheet having a skin-facing side and a core-facing side, the topsheet being liquid permeable and having a core-facing side coated with calcium carbonate of at least about 0.01 mg / m2, preferably about 0.05 mg / m2 to about 0.2 mg / m2; (b) a backsheet that is liquid impermeable; and (c) an absorbent core comprising an absorbent material, the absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an absorbent article having improved fluid handling properties. Background technique [0002] Absorbent articles used for personal hygiene such as disposable diapers, disposable pants, adult incontinence underwear, and sanitary napkins are designed to absorb and contain body exudates, particularly urine, low-viscosity fecal matter, and menses (collectively referred to herein as "fluid"). These absorbent articles may comprise, among other layers, several layers serving different functions, such as a topsheet, a backsheet and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet. [0003] The topsheet is generally liquid permeable and is configured to receive fluid and help direct the fluid towards the absorbent core. Generally, the topsheet is a nonwoven fabric made of hydrophobic fibers and is made more hydrophilic by applying a hydrophilic surfactant treatment to its skin-facing surface so that fluid is a...
