The invention discloses a cathode protection system for an oil and gas pipeline, and the system comprises a stray current detector which is used for detecting the stray current data of the pipeline; the environment monitoring module is used for collecting environment data of the pipeline; the cathode protection device is used for collecting reference potential data and power output data; the station control system is used for receiving the stray current data, the environment data, the reference potential data and the power supply output data which are remotely transmitted, and determining an ideal potential according to the data; and after the station control system determines the ideal potential, a corresponding control instruction is generated and sent to the cathode protection device, and the cathode protection device controls the output protection current according to the control instruction, so that the pipeline is at the ideal potential.
