A luminous jade has a chemical formula: aM beta.bM'beta.cSiO2.dAl2O3.eEu2O3.fB2O3.gLn2O3.hZrO2, where M is one or more of Ca, Sr, Ba, Mg, Zn and Cd; M' is one or more of Be, Mg, Zn and Cd; beta is one or both of O and S; Ln is one or more of Ce, Pr, La, Dy, Ho, Nd, Er, Bi, Ga, Sb, Lu, Y, Mn, Mo, Cr, Sn, Cu and Tm; and a,b,c,d,e,f,g and h are mole ratios. It is prepared through mixing and high-temp sintering, and features compact mass, high toughness, and long luminous time after radiated by light.
