Benefits of technology

The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a metal material by continuous casting, a manufacturing apparatus for executing this method, a metal material manufactured by the manufacturing method, and a metal workpiece manufactured from the metal material. The technical problem addressed by the invention is the deteriorated surface quality of the cast material caused by excessive lubricating oil applied during the continuous casting process, which leads to carbide or oxide formation, and the increased cost associated with the use of excessive lubricating oil or alternative methods such as forming a lubricating layer of graphite fluoride or soot.

Problems solved by technology

In some cases, however, the surface of such cast rolled material may darken, resulting in deteriorated surface quality as compared with an extruded material.

[A] Intermittent Spraying of Lubricating Oil in Continuous Casting

[0153] Using the continuous casting apparatus 1 as shown in FIGS. 1 to 3B, a continuous casting test according to JIS A6061 was executed. In the continuous casting apparatus 1, a casting wheel 1 with a diameter of 1,400 mm and a groove cross-sectional area (cross-sectional area of the casting space 15) of 2,200 mm2 was used, and a continuous belt 11 with a width of 100 mm was used.

[0154] As a lubricating oil spraying nozzle 16, 17, a dual structure nozzle for spraying lubricating oil discharged from the plunger pump 20 shown in FIG. 5 and mixed with compressed gas was used. As the lubricating oil to be supplied to the inner tube 28 of the nozzle 16, 17, ricinus (viscosity: 0.680 pa·s) was used. As the compressed gas to be supplied to the external tube 27, air was used.

[0155] Furthermore, the lubricating oil and compressed gas to be supplied to the nozzle 16, 17 were controlled by the lubricating oil control appara...

Abstract

To easily prevent adhesion of molten metal at low costs without deteriorating surface quality in a metal material manufacturing method by continuous casting. In continuously casting a metal material S1 by driving a plurality of rotational molding members 10, 11 in a casting direction, the plurality of rotational molding members 10, 11 being disposed so as to be opposed with each other to form a casting space, lubricating oil is intermittently sprayed onto at least a part of a molten alloy contact surface of at least one of the plurality of rotational molding members 10 or 11.
